GROUP/THERAPY /gru:p//'θerəpi/: The concept of group therapy leads us to associate the processes that take place in a psychiatric organization with pedagogical methodologies used in some educational institutions.

In both cases the person exhibits him/herself within the group context. The group process is explicitly utilized as a mechanism of change by developing, exploring and examining interpersonal relationships within the group.

This exhibition highlights a dichotomy in the situation where the artist is dealing with the construction of his/her own process and the fact that the group may configure his/her personal voice.

To what extent does this exchange shape or even become the work?

John and his wife have just returned from their second visit to Barbados. John got a great deal of bird watching in, and saw every known breeding species to the island (along with a euro rarity see John's bird watching blog "twitch list" at http://birdingmanitoba.blogspot.com/for details) John found great influence and inspiration on the island and has returned with many new nautical and tropical paintings which are now under way. Novellas

Work continues on " Novellas" a body of work which John started back in 2007 during his BFA Honours thesis at the U of M. An on going series of small 5"x 7" mixed media paintings; "Novellas" tells the story of a young hero embarking on a journey into his own mind in order to discover his role in an ever changing society. The hero's adventure covers a vast landscape of subject matter, such as his adoption, and the discovery of: sexuality, religion, birding etc..... Just to name a few! Stay tune for new painting image uploads.
